“Terpsy” restaurant-café: the revival of a childhood memory, an open invitation for dinner as an occasion for meeting, enjoying artisanal cooking and connecting.

I love gatherings around a dining table, where people while eating and drinking, enjoy the opportunity to meet, to connect and have joy.

The Sunday lunches, the festive meals, the spontaneous summer gatherings in the yard of my family home in Marathon, with the large (in size and age) mulberry tree shading and refreshing the paved yard, in my child’s mind meant joy. People who were working dog hard to provide for their families (we are talking about the 60s and 70s in Greece), I remember them relaxing, talking, joking, enjoying and praising the wine and the dishes which the hostess had cooked with care and passion to please and honor the guests, sometimes singing without even the need of background music.

This well-kept childhood memory, I have the opportunity and the luxury to revive, as a gift to myself, cooking at “terpsy’s” restaurant, which I opened five years ago, at the age of 57 years old, not having a clue about running restaurants, in Iklaina, a small village of Navarino bay, off the beaten path. “Terpsy” is an open invitation for dinner as an occasion for meeting, enjoying artisanal cooking and connecting.
